With five separate accommodations, including 2 main houses, 2 apartments, and 1 guest house. The Malibu Retreat comfortably sleeps up to 32 guests.

Meet the Fam

Family-owned and operated, The Malibu Retreat was founded in 1998 when Michele Clark and her family moved from New Jersey to Malibu Canyon. The property initially served as Michele’s office space for Michele Clark Promotion, where she launched dozens of artists like Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, Mathchbox 20, and more as well as the world-renowned Sunset Sessions, uniting artists and industry leaders.

Over time, the land became known not just for music and creativity, but for its calm, grounding energy. In 2018, the family transformed their space to share with travelers, beginning with the iconic Happiness Bus. What started small quickly evolved into a destination for retreats, gatherings, and events, shaped by the family’s shared vision and hands-on approach. Today, The Malibu Retreat is known for its boho-chic luxury, natural beauty, and soulful atmosphere designed for connection and restoration.

Michele brings decades of experience from the entertainment industry along with a deep passion for wellness and personal transformation. In 2013, she founded Life Source Retreats, a wellness program rooted in holistic healing and self-discovery, originally based in Tulum, Mexico. The philosophy of Life Source Retreats now lives throughout The Malibu Retreat, influencing everything from the programming to the intentional way the space is held.

At its core, The Malibu Retreat exists to offer a serene, elevated environment where guests can slow down, reconnect with themselves and others, and feel at home in nature.
